Get Wi-Fi

We work with schools all over Northern Ireland, and so we understand the issues with wireless access via C2K – but we are here to help.

You really do get the best out of an iPad with all of its learning and teaching potential with internet access provided via Wi-fi.

Getting Wi-fi need not be as difficult or expensive as you may think.

Here are some of the typical options we have for NI schools

Option 1 – C2K Wireless

C2K Guest wireless access points are available – these simply plug into your current c2K network and give iPad access

Typically £1000 per access point (yes, we know!). C2K are currently rolling out the Meru wireless system to all primary and post primary schools throughout the academic year 2012-2013 – contact your C2K manager to find out more about your particular schools deployment.

Option 2 – C2K legacy

This one depends on your school network switch , but will allow you to establish your own Wireless network based on your C2K equipment, including filtering.

Typically £500 set up, plus £150 per area

Option 3 – Dedicated solution

This is ‘off c2K’ , where the school provisions a fast broadband connection from BT . We then provide a server with content filtering, wireless access points, everything you need – with the advantage of remote iPad management for the entire school.

This costs from £1395 for Primary and £2995 for  typical post primary , plus £300PA for BT. All schools are different though and we can do a site survey.

If you just have a class set, you can run with the BT line and £195 gets you a filtered, managed roving access point.

Option 4 – 3G

This is a great interim solution – fast mobile access via secured routers. Its plug and go. Great to get you up and running until you plan a wider deployment and suitable for pilots or single classroom use.

Typically £150 per area/department
